WestJet’s Response to Sexism in the Air is Spot On

In early March, the Internet was treated to a real life example of the troll-erific sexism that women still endure in many male-dominated fields. A female WestJet pilot posted a picture to social media of a note that a male passenger had left behind on the flight she had just flown. The note stated how the male passenger thought that the “cockpit of an airliner is no place for a woman.”

WestJet came to the defense of their pilot when the story broke in the news, but I recently stumbled upon a video that perfectly responds to the male passenger’s sexist complaint. WestJet posted this video for International Women’s Day. Perhaps it’s just a case of good timing, but it does a great job of highlighting the everyday contributions that women make in the aviation industry.

This video speaks louder than any statement could. Well done, WestJet.

(The number of views for this video has double since I first tweeted about it last week.)
